Yuuri Makita (槙田 悠里 Makita Yuuri) is introduced in the first chapter, Yuuri's high school life is parallel to Futaba's middle school life. She is very cute, causing her to be despised by many girls in her class, and she is often left alone. Yuuri gets by very well, however, for she prefers to be hated for who she truly is than to be liked for someone she isn't. Yuuri and Futaba soon become best friends. She falls in love with Kou after he helps her during a class leader's camp. Yuuri greatly treasures her friendship with Futaba, but often gets jealous of Futaba's closeness with Kou. However, she eventually gets over this and is now going out with Haruhiko Uchimiya.

Appearance

Yuuri has short hair with straight bangs, and a wide/round eye shape. She is very petite, adorable, and the epitome of a "sweet little girl." It hasn't been shown that she does much with her hair, except for during the festival she wore one side of hair pulled back by a flower accessory.

Personality

Her personality is very cute, cuddly and innocent, which makes her loved by the guys but hated by the girls. Although she was alone at a period of time in her high school life, she accepted the fact that she's disliked. She first became close friends with Yoshioka, then Shuuko, Kou, and Aya, and is loved by all of them. Yuuri tends to keep a smile on in front of people (even when she's feeling down), for instance she answered so casually and pretended to be fine when Yoshioka stated she also likes Kou (but ends up going into the bathroom and crying). No matter how much she cries over Yoshioka and Kou's relationship, she doesn't let anything ruin her's and Yoshioka's friendship. Yuuri also respects people's secrets, if she knows something that someone holds of value, she keeps quiet. Yuuri might be very kind hearted, but she still has a jealous streak and can get somewhat annoyed by Touma.

Relationships

Futaba Yoshioka

Yuuri was Yoshioka's first real female friend in high school. Yuuri found Yoshioka really nice and thanked her for talking to her, they became best friends after Yoshioka stood up for Yuuri. Yuuri also cherishes their friendship, but ended up falling for the same guy, Kou. She pretended not to be bothered by Yoshioka also liking Kou, but ended up crying about it (despite this, she still tried her best to win over Kou). She won't let anything come between their friendship, but Yuuri can get jealous of Yoshioka and Kou's closeness (this provokes her in trying to get close to Kou). Unfortunately, Yuuri losses to Yoshioka (but since Yoshioka is always caring about her, it's easy to forget about their little rivalry). Yuuri still has some selfish thoughts about getting with Kou, but now is able to give advise to Yoshioka with her Kou problems and pushes her to move forward (due to the fact that Yuuri no longer has a chance).

Kou Mabuchi

Yuuri first fell in love with Kou after he helped her get across the river during the field trip. She tries her best to learn more about Kou, and feels a little uneasy when Kou and Yoshioka are really close. Between Yoshioka and Yuuri, she was the first one to see Kou's mother's memorial room. She kept quite about knowing about the room (not only in respect to Kou, but also probably because she felt special that she knew something Yoshioka didn't). Yuuri's "specialness" went away after Yoshioka also found out about the room, (Yuuri can get discouraged easily, thinking she doesn't have a change with Kou). Besides this she still gives it her all. Yuuri really stepped up her game at the festival (she wore her yukata, and spent almost the whole day next to Kou), but still it was no use and it was evident to her that Kou is in love with Yoshioka and no matter what she does, she can never get with him. In order to move on, Yuuri confesses to Kou and get's rejected with "Thank you, but I don't see you that way." Yuuri has finally come to grips that the relationship she wants them to have is impossible. In result of this, Yuuri has found a new love interest, Uchimiya and later started going out with him.

Shuuko Murao

Shuuko is also one of Yuuri's best friends. During the field trip, Yuuri was wandering around and ended up seeing Shuuko and Tanaka-Sensai together. Since Shuuko and Tanaka-Sensai's relationship is risky, Yuuri kept quite (and told Shuuko that she won't tell anyone, and that it would be okay for her to also tell Yoshioka). Like Yoshioka, Yuuri also supports Shuuko's relationship with Tanaka-Sensai. Shuuko also gave Yuuri advice on trying harder with Kou and Yuuri also is always there to comfort Shuuko.

Uchimiya Haruhiko

Uchimiya, or Ucchi, is one of Touma's friends that is seen hanging around him many times. In recent chapters, it appears he and Yuuri are both interested in each other. By chapter 32, Uchimiya and Yuuri consult their feelings and are now going out.

Touma Kikuchi

Yuuri was very bothered by Touma in the beginning due to the fact that he kept on trying to get with Yoshioka. Later on, after Touma's friend tells Yuuri that she should give Touma a chance (because he's a really good guy) and she lightened up towards him.

Aya Kominato

Yuuri didn't like Aya, because he unintentionally "stole" her cupcake. They don't interact in the series very often, but now they are on good terms with each other.
